Our current energy strategy is based on fossil
fuels that: (1) emit large amount of greenhouse gasses causing
global climate change,
(2) emit
pollution detrimental to air quality and (3)
threaten national security. Changes in
energy are necessary to reduce anthropogenic effects on
climate change and improve
national security.
Alternatives such as
battery electric
transportation and
solar
electric generation
can provide solutions to our challenges. However, changes in our energy
strategy is not trivial because of the
scale
in which we use energy, and the fact that energy must continue to be
reliable and
economical.
