What can you do?

The simplest and most effective way to mitigate energy effects on the environment is to decrease our energy consumption by conservation and energy efficiency.  Conserving energy will become increasingly important in the future with increased population and decreasing fossil fuels. Conserving energy is the most effective and cheapest thing all of us can do to help our current energy crisis!

Conserving energy includes turning off your lights, computer and television when your not home, but is much more than that.  Conserving energy is reducing your energy consumption without affecting your quality of life.  This includes energy efficient light bulbs, appliances, and transportation.  Buying a car with increased gas mileage, taking public transportation and reducing A/C and heating, saving energy and saving you money.

By increasing energy efficiency we decrease our impact on the environment and use less fossil fuels from other countries increasing national security.  Energy efficiency starts with power plants, and ends by the user.  It includes each of your appliances, unnecessary lights as well as transportation and manufacturing processes.  The more productive we can be with the least amount of energy the better off we are in terms of our standard of living impact on the environment and national security

Changes in energy will take time and require the right frame of mind.  It is particularly important to understand and become familiar with the reality of global climate change.  I urge to educate children of global climate change and potential renewable possibilities such as sustainable solar integrated energy.  Children will be the scientists, technologists and policy makers of the future.
